Over the years, we’ve been lucky to participate in different events and programs. We’ve realized goals, achived milestones, and joined new families. We’d like to share some of these events with you now.
We will be representing the startup ecosystem from Berlin at the Hannover Messe, one of the world’s largest trade fairs, dedicated to the topic of industry development, in partnership with Berlin Partner.
We will be joining Fraunhofer Venture and Fraunhofer IWS in Munich to create our own tailored cooperation roadmap. AHEAD is one of Europe’s premier technology transfer programs.
Our project “haptic Vision” in partnership with ITL-studio from the Netherlands won funding to prove of concept motorskins technology in haptics for fashion for a Mini garment collection.
We got awarded € 50.000 for innovative startups in Berlin, mirroring equity for the same amount.
We won 1st place in the Startup category at the 2021 Berlin Newcomer Startup Awards, by Singa Germany, supported by the Senate of Berlin.
We were named startup of the month by Texspace, “the Digital Bridge for Textile Innovation”.
We won third place in the scale-up group at the Shenzen Innovation Nanshan Global Entrepreneurs Star Contest 2021 from Techcode.
We presented our technology at the Dutch Design Week (DDW) as a part of “All Connected”, from DesignFarm Berlin in partnership with Isola Design District’s “Only Good Vibes”. The DDW theme this year was “The Greater Number”.
We showcased our work at “Hope Springs Eternal”, the 5th anniversary exhibition from DesignFarm Berlin and two of our founders, Juan Opitz-Silva and José Villatoro participated in the discussion panel “International founders in Berlin”.
We were one of the 10 startups invited to pitch at the Wear It Innovation Award Show, which showcases wearable technologies and their applications in commercial products.
We were named startup of the month by the German consortium textil+mode, the spokesperson for the industry of fashion and textiles on the international, economic, political and social fields.
We obtained the INVEST grant from the BMWi (Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy), which gives Business Angels based in the CEE a tax-free 20% discount on their investment in MotorSkins, and a partial tax rebate upon their exit.
We joined the advisory board for the project “Bekleidungstechnische Assistenzsysteme” (Clothing assistance systems) of the ITM (Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology, TU Dresden), focusing on passive assistive technology for elderly people.
Our very own Juan Opitz-Silva, co-founder of MotorSkins, is included in the “100 founders, makers and creatives to watch in 2021” by BusinessPunk Magazine.
INAM (the Innovation Network for Advanced Materials) invited us back on their Podcast “Start Up the Science” for a special “where are they now” episode.
We took part in the 2020 edition of the Startupgeflüster, an event matching selected corporates, startups and investors.
MotionLab.Berlin invited us to take part in their blog “Talking Hardware”, which features members of their hard tech community. We talked about our dreams, our path and even our favorite team song.
We took part in this interactive workshop program from the Berlin Handwerkskammer for the development of new business ideas, bringing startups and local artisan and craftspeople together.
We participated in the 8th edition of the HugeThing×Google for Startups pre-acceleration program, which aims to help startups validate business ideas and prepare them for their first investment round.
The newspaper Berliner Woche published an article on MotorSkins titled “Start-up erhält Stipendium vom Wirtschaftsministerium”.
We obtained the EXIST-Gründerstipendium, a scholarship program from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) which supports technology or knowledge-based projects to become successful businesses.
We took part in the Toyota Startup Awards Finals in Barcelona, where we got a change to pitch our inclusive mobility solution for a spot on their accelerator program. We were one of the 8 finalists among an initial 200 applications.
We presented MotorSkins at the Startupnight, one of Europe’s largest startup events and a unique opportunity to meet interesting and experienced people from around the world and to expand our network.
We attended the Global Innovation Summit China 2019, a meeting point for 500 Chinese business and innovation leaders as well as startups and small SMEs in the space of Advanced Materials, Manufacturing, Mobility, Machine Learning and eHealth.
We joined the AdMaCom 2019, a fast-paced 2 week Accelerator Program for Startups in Advanced Materials. At the Demo Day, we were awarded Crowd Favorite and the Sony Prize as well as an invitation to the Global Innovation Summit China 2019.
INAM (the Innovation Network for Advanced Materials) invited us to talk about MotoSkins on their Podcast “Start Up the Science”. We talked about our project, the team and our path becoming a Startup.
We presented MotorSkins at the 2019 edition of the Innovation Day SME from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy, where new products, processes and services from different technology domains were showcased.
We entered DesignFarm, a design-in-tech accelerator from the Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin (Weißensee academy of arts and design) and obtained the Berliner Startup Stipendium, a grant from the Senate of Berlin.
We won 1st place in the “Best Kickstarter” category at the 2018 Newcomer Startup Awards by Singa Germany.
We won third place in the 2018 regional edition of Falling Walls, where we presented our research carried out at the Cluster of Excellence BWG (Bild, Wissen, Gestaltung) from Humboldt University.
